PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error correction processing device and an error correction processing method capable of realizing an efficient and high speed error correcting process while suppressing an increase in a circuit scale. SOLUTION: The error correction processing device is equipped with: production section 45a and 45b for producing intermediate information for the error correction process in a face unit from an ECC block having A/B faces housed in a memory 42; memories 47 and 48 for housing the intermediate information in a face unit; a process section 45c for producing the correcting information for the error correction process with units divided into several units within the face unit with respect to the ECC block housed in the memory 42 based on the intermediate information; and control means 43, 44, 46, 52 and 53 for relating the positional information of ECC block to the positional information in a face unit which are used in the production sections 45a and 45b, memories 47 and 48 and process section 45c.
