The method involves recording a function of control devices, operating units, sensors, a sensor data transmission apparatus and measured values of a transmission input torque during an operation of a motor vehicle. The function of the components of the input torque is checked for signs of malfunction. Operations are conducted when the vehicle is operated in an emergency type of operation after recognizing the malfunction.
