The method involves parameterizing an interactive server (3) to select background music from a database when a calling communication terminal (1) communicates with the server. The selection of the music is stored in a file of a user. The selected music is associated with characteristic of a communication terminal (6). The music is combined with a voice signal received from terminal (1) during establishment of call between the terminals. An independent claim is also included for an interactive server for combining background music with a telephone call in a telecommunication network.
