PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the lighter weight and higher reliability of a foldable wheelchair. SOLUTION: The wheelchair is provided with a pair of side frames with the rear and front wheel casters mounted thereon and a sitting surface support frame to which the pair of side frames are foldably linked. The sitting surface support frame has a pair of sitting surface support pipes extending longitudinally which have the sitting surface mounted thereon and are detachably mounted on the side frames through connecting members and link members which have its upper ends connected separately to the pair of sitting surface support pipes and its lower ends rotatably linked to the lower ends of the side frames to make them cross each other in X. The connecting members are formed in an S-shaped cross section and either the side frames or the sitting surface support pipes are securely joined respectively on the U-shaped parts of the S-shaped portions while the others are detachably fitted into the other U-shaped parts of the S-shaped portions.
