PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new therapeutic approach for (recovery), or a means for minimally promoting the retreat of acute renal insufficiency.

SOLUTION: The family1of proteins and peptides containing the amino acid sequence of a new mitogenic protein called a Wound Growth Factor: WGF, and the NH2-terminated peptide for promoting the growth of kidney epithelial cells (WGF includes various length peptides originating from parent molecules, as long as the parent molecules have mitogen activity).
