PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phased-array antenna capable of performing accurate beam control by accurately calculating a current main beam direction even if the temperature changes during use, material characteristics of a variable dielectric-constant dielectric are varied by deterioration with the passage of time, or there is a hysteresis in the material characteristics of the variable dielectric-constant dielectric. SOLUTION: In a one-dimensional or two-dimensional array antenna wherein the same type and the equal number of phase shifters 106-113 using the variable dielectric-constant variable dielectric, of which a dielectric constant is varied by an application electric field, are disposed between an antenna input terminal 105 and each of all antenna radiation elements 101-104, two sample signals are extracted, a phase difference of 90°is added to one of two branched signals by 90°phase shifters 124, 125, and the result is then combined with the other signal and detected by detectors 126, 127. Maximum and minimum values of two detection outputs are used as conversion constants to calculate the main beam direction from conversion formula and the detection outputs.
