PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device for easily and accurately finding the wear amount of a friction member. SOLUTION: The braking device comprises a zero piston position storage part 25 for storing a piston position in a motor cylinder 7 when replacing a brake pad with new one and a braking pressure sensor 23 for detecting hydraulic pressure generated between the motor cylinder 7 and a brake caliper 4 in a sealed condition. The wear amount of the brake pad is calculated in accordance with a relationship between a piston stroke from a zero piston position stored by the zero piston position storage part 25 and the hydraulic pressure detected by the braking pressure sensor 23.
