<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dot position detector in which dot position and positional shift can be measured in a short time with high precision without using any special measuring instrument. <P>SOLUTION: The dot position detector comprises a section 305 for predicting dot position in an image formed by an ink jet printer, a section 307 for calculating the dot position in an image as the center of gravity based on a predicted dot position, a section 309 for calculating an ideal dot forming position based on the center of gravity of a dot thus calculated, and a section 311 for calculating positional shift from the ideal dot forming position thus calculated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
