A thin plate-supporting body for supporting ridges produced in a glass substrate (6) for a large-sized liquid crystal display device when the glass substrate (6) bending by its own weight is placed in position. The supporting body supports the ridges at each of rows of pin-shaped supporting members (16, 18). The substrate bends less when placed on the thin plate-supporting body. The thin plate- supporting body may be a fork-shaped end effecter and cassette of a robot.
