PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation locking mechanism for a novel and elaborate lighter which can not be lighted unless a fingerprint of a hand gripping the lighter matches with a fingerprint preregistered in the lighter even when a lighting switch is pressed against will, or a child or the like tries to mischievously operate it. SOLUTION: The operation locking mechanism 3 is provided with a fingerprint sensor 3a, a fingerprint authenticating means 3b, a fingerprint authentication control switch 3c, and a discharge lighting means 3d turned ON/OFF by the fingerprint authentication control switch 3c. The fingerprint sensor 3a is comprised of a pressure sensitive fingerprint sensor, the fingerprint authenticating means 3b is comprised of a fingerprint authentication control electric circuit IC, and a fingerprint image recognized by the fingerprint sensor 3a is collated with preregistered fingerprint data. The fingerprint authentication control switch 3c is electrically connected to the fingerprint authentication control electric circuit IC by a band like data line 3d, and it is programmed to carry out ON operation of the lighting switch only when the fingerprint data of the fingerprint authenticating means 3b matches with the fingerprint image recognized by the fingerprint sensor 3a.
