PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging system, a charging method thereof, and a program that can perform charging processing when a user obtains a scanning result that the user intends without letting the user perform extra operation. SOLUTION: The charging system 100 includes a digital hybrid machine 101 which generates a digital image of a read document and saves the generated digital image, and a charging device 121 which charges for the generation of the digital image. The charging system 100 temporarily saves the digital image generated by reading the document by the digital hybrid machine 101 in a main memory 105 before the charging device 121 charges, displays a dialog for making a user's choice of whether an image generated from the same document as the temporarily saved digital image is allowed to be overwritten when the image is present as a digital image saved in an auxiliary storage device 104 after charging processing, and overwrites the image without charging processing by the charging device 121 when the a user's choice of overwriting permission is made.
