<p>Adhesive tape for running reel changes with (a) two longitudinal edges (14, 16), (b) a splitting carrier system (7) and (c/d) self-adhesive material (8, 9) on the upper and lower sides of (7), has (e) notches (15) on at least the front edge (14) where the carrier (7) splits during reel change. An independent claim is also included for a method of splicing in which the uppermost strip of the above tape is partially glued on the back while the underside of the tape is stuck to the underlying strip so as to secure the uppermost strip; optionally only part of any covering on the self-adhesive material is stripped off so that the self-adhesive material required for the splicing process is still covered and the roll shows no free adhesive surface, after which any remaining covering material is removed in final preparation for splicing, then the new roll thus obtained is positioned next to an old, almost completely empty roll and brought up to the same speed of rotation, and the exposed adhesive on the new tape is stuck to the old tape at essentially the same speed while the carrier splits leaving residues on both the adhesive materials.</p> |
