PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce burdens in managing products and improve readiness of attachment work. SOLUTION: This shock absorber for the elevator has a shock absorber deck 1 of which the lower end side of guide rails 11a, 11b which guide an elevator car, a counterbalance, and a weight are attached at surfaces of the support bodies 12a, 12b which support and face each other respectively and which has prescribed-length beams 14a, 14b hung over between the prescribed-length rail bases 13a, 13b in which a plurality of position adjusting hole portions are formed in a guide rail attachment width direction and rail bases attached at the facing surfaces of the respective support bodies, and can be tightened and fixed by selecting the position adjusting hole portions, and a shock absorber 2 which is attached at roughly center potion of a beam upper surface portion for constituting the shock absorber deck and can adjust the position in a direction orthogonally to the guide rail attachment width direction by forming a long hole 22 at a portion in which tightening members 27, 29 are inserted.
