PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic light-emitting element having high external light efficiency and preventing deterioration in image dispersion and color purity, and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The element and the method are provided, wherein the element includes: a first electrode; a second electrode; a pixel layer interposed between the first and the second electrodes and including at least a light-emitting layer; and a transparent member positioned in a direction in which light emitted from the pixel layer is taken out. And, the element has a diffraction grating between the pixel layer and the transparent member; and a low refraction layer made of substance having a refractive index lower than that of the substance constituting the transparent member between the diffraction grating and the transparent member.
