PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite recorder/reproducer in which the performance of reproduction image of a VCR is improved while reducing the cost. SOLUTION: When reproduction is performed at VCR section 13, a reproduction video signal from the VCR section 13 is outputted to a display through a TBC circuit provided in a DVD recorder section 14 and a video signal processing circuit including an image quality regulating circuit, an OSD circuit and an I/P conversion circuit. Since a conventional output switch is not required, cost is reduced and VCR reproduction image quality performance can be improved by the TBC circuit. Furthermore, VCR reproduction output can be made progressive by an I/F conversion circuit with no cost increase. Cost can also be reduced because an OSD circuit is not required to be mounted on the VCR side, and an image quality regulating circuit is not required to be mounted on the VCR side.
