PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DNA probe chip for performing the hybridization of the polynucleotide in a specimen solution of DNA, RNA or the like with the probe DNA fixed to a substrate at a high speed in a high yield, and a hybridization method. SOLUTION: A DNA probe is constituted so that at least three areas are successively formed from the side of a probe fixing region to which the DNA probe is fixed and the first area is set to a base sequence substantially complementary with respect to a target polynucleotide while the second area is set to a base sequence containing a base not forming a hydrogen bond complementary even with respect to any base of ACGT of the target polynucleotide and the third area is set to a base sequence substantially complementary with respect to the target nucleotide and made equal to or shorter than the base length of the first area.
