<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical compensation film and an elliptic polarizing plate which are used for providing a liquid crystal display device that has improved gradation inversion and the characteristic of a wider viewing angle and that is excellent in industrial productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The optical compensation film consists of a transparent support, and a layer with a first optical anisotropic layer and a second optical anisotropic layer, laminated in an arbitrary order. The optical compensation film is characterized in that the first optical anisotropic layer is made of a liquid crystal composition which develops a biaxial nematic phase and the second optical anisotropic layer is made of uniaxial liquid crystal molecules. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
