PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal injection place specifying method in which a signal injection place can easily be found without taking much labor and time, and a measuring instrument for a modem master station and a dedicated measuring instrument. SOLUTION: The signal injection place specifying method includes a step of arranging the measuring instrument 2 and slave stations 31, 32 and 33 of a plurality of modems on an electric power line 1, a step wherein a signal is transmitted from the measuring instrument 2 to the respective slave stations 31, 32 and 33, a step wherein the slave stations 31, 32 and 33 having received the signal from the measuring instrument 2 transmit signals to the measuring instrument 2 respectively, and a step of deciding communicable slave stations where the measuring instrument 2 is arranged on the basis of the signals transmitted from the slave stations 31, 32 and 33 and displaying the number of them.
