PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving apparatus which can adjust a projection optical system in horizontal and vertical directions, and can be made thin. SOLUTION: The moving apparatus for the projection optical system used for a projection apparatus for projecting an image on a projection screen through the projection optical system, is provided with a fixed plate fixed to the projection apparatus body, a holding plate for holding the projection optical system, a 1st moving means fixed to the fixed plate, for moving the holding plate in a 1st direction against the fixed plate and a 2nd moving means fixed to the fixed plate, for moving the holding plate in a 2nd direction orthogonal to the 1st direction against the fixed plate, and the 1st moving means is provided with a 1st guiding part for guiding so that the holding plate may move in the 2nd direction, and the 2nd moving means is provided with a 2nd guiding part for guiding so that the holding plate may move in the 1st direction.
