PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a hollow shaft with a flange, which method can improve the productivity, and further to provide a die for forming the hollow shaft with the flange. SOLUTION: A crack 23 is produced by pushing the bottom portion 4a of a material 4 to be extruded from rear. The hollow shaft with the flange is formed by piercing the bottom portion 4a of the material 4 from the crack 23, and successively, by extruding the material 4 from front. Therefore, the forming of the cylindrical material 4 into the hollow shaft 1 with the flange can be completed by one process (one stroke of a punch 9). By this way, the productivity can be improved compared with a conventional manufacturing method of the hollow shaft 1 with the flange, the conventional manufacturing method being composed of a plurality of production processes.
