Layer system (12) comprises a heat insulating layer (14) and an adhesion-promoting layer (13) on a surface (11) of a component (10). The adhesion-promoting layer is formed as a slip layer made from MCrAlY (where M = Fe, Ni and/or Co;) and the heat insulating layer is made from a lanthanum material. An independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a layer system arranged on a gas turbine component.
