PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorant and a preparation selected from a cosmetic, pharmaceutical and quasi-drug, particularly a deodorant and a preparation selected from a cosmetic, pharmaceutical and quasi-drug each effectively inhibiting the emission of male-specific body smell, so-called 'manly smell'. SOLUTION: The deodorant contains as active ingredients (A) an ingredient having the effect of inhibiting producing low-molecular hydrocarbon-based odor components and (B) an ingredient having the effect of inhibiting producing volatile steroids. In this deodorant, the ingredient(A) is preferably one having the effect of inhibiting producing lower fatty acids or vinyl ketone and being a disinfectant and the ingredient(B) is preferably extract of a plant having the effect of inhibiting producing volatile steroids or extract of a substance derived from the plant.
