PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and inexpensive underwater separation device that can speedily and accurately recognize whether a measuring apparatus moored on the sea bed has been separated, and can efficiently recover the measuring apparatus. SOLUTION: In a sea bed measuring device 1, a sea bed measuring apparatus 17, a sagging spindle 13, a transducer 12, and a buoyancy body 16 for floating them from the sea bed to the water surface are moored to an anchor 20 sunk to the sea bed via a separator 11 while they are integrated and tilted. The transducer 12 is connected to a circuit for detecting a separation command signal received on the sea bed, a circuit for commanding the separator 11 to perform the separation operation according to the detected separation command signal, a circuit for detecting an outputted tilt sensing signal from a clinometer 14 for sensing the tilt fluctuation of the measuring apparatus 17 that rises and floats by the separation with the spindle 13 put downside, and a circuit for commanding the transducer 12 to transmit and receive a separation completion signal according to the detected tilt sensing signal.
