PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alumina filament knitted fabric having excellent heat resistance and stretchability, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This alumina filament knitted fabric is obtained by doubling or twisting the precursors of alumina filaments with such organic fibers as burnt and atomized, when burnt, as reinforcing fibers, knitting the doubled yarns or twisted yarns to produce the knitted fabric, and then calcining the knitted fabric.
