PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus which has a simple constitution, and which can surely clean an ejection head even with a small quantity of cleaning liquid. SOLUTION: This inkjet recording apparatus 10 comprises the ejection head 12, a main tank 14, a supply sub-tank 16, a recovery sub-tank 18 and a cleaning liquid tank 20. The tank 20 is arranged perpendicularly above the sub-tank 16. When an on-off valve 42 is opened, the cleaning liquid in the cleaning tank 20 naturally flows into the sub-tank 16 by a difference of elevation between the cleaning tank 20 and the sub-tank 16. The cleaning liquid in the sub-tank 16 is made to flow in from an inflow port 12a of the ejection head 12 by a static pressure method, recovered into the sub-tank 18 from an exhaust port 12b of the ejection head 12, and discharged into a waste liquid tank 22.
