PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for switching power supply of a pen by use of a pen provided with ultrasonic and infrared ray transmitters and a handwriting input device receiving ultrasonic wave and infrared ray to measure handwriting position data and transmitting handwriting position data drawn by the pen to a personal computer. SOLUTION: The electronic pen comprises a cap, a shank containing a writing refile, and ultrasonic and infrared ray transmitters. A switch pushing part is provided on the inner surface of the cap, and a power supply switch performing ON/OFF of power supply by being pressed to the switch pushing part is provided in a position opposed to the switch pushing part on the shank side.
