The cooling device has a combustion chamber (5) with an open top in a reactor casing with a fluid removal space round it, and a spray protection hood above and spaced from the combustion chamber aperture. There is at least one impact element (2) above the spray protection hood (4), onto which a collimated coolant jet (1) from a jet nozzle (3) is directed.
