PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source driving method for supplying power to the light source of a projector, and provide the projector using the light source driving method. SOLUTION: The projector comprises a lamp driving power control part 3 for functioning as a light source driving part for outputting 1st driving waveform and 2nd driving waveform; and a high-current ON/OFF switching part 5 for functioning as a current control designation part for designating control to switch the 1st driving waveform and the 2nd driving waveform outputted from the lamp driving power control part 3.
