PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manually operated transmission capable of improving shift feeling. SOLUTION: In this manually operated transmission 100, a shift gate mechanism is provided with a shift select lever 103 provided in a transmission case 101 and capable of turning in the shift direction shown by arrow mark 142 and moving in the select direction shown by arrow mark 141, a gate plate 109 attached to the shift select lever 103 and capable of turning in the shift direction together with the shift select lever 103 and moving in the select direction to display a specific gear stage, and a back-up lamp switch 144 as a detection part for detecting a gear stage in accordance with a display condition of the gate plate 109. A switch contact part 145 being a part of the back-up lamp switch 144 is engaged with a gate channel 110 of the gate plate 109 to regulate travel in the select direction of the shift select lever 103 at each gear stage.
