<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle surrounding image generating device capable of simultaneously displaying a vehicle surrounding image and a vehicle contour shape with less processing amount. <P>SOLUTION: Laser pointers 12a-12d are provided on four corners of a vehicle 11, and radar spots SPa-SPd are irradiated on the points at the predetermined distance outside the ground projected pattern of the vehicle. These four spots are image-picked up by cameras 13a-13d mounted on the front and rear and the right and left of the vehicle. An image processing unit converts and synthesizes each camera image into an image viewed from a viewpoint at the predetermined height of the vehicle. Since four spot images are included in the synthesized image, these spot images are extracted, points A-D at the predetermined distance inside each spot image are defined as four corner points of the vehicle, and a vehicle pseudo image CIMG is generated by connecting four corner points, and displayed on the vehicle surrounding image in an overlapping manner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
