A processing unit detects a TS packet data error by using the value of "adaptation_field_control" and the value of "adaptation_field_length" contained in the TS packet of the transport stream. When a TS packet data error is detected, a TS packet filter of the processing unit deletes the TS packet in the transport stream. When no TS packet data error is detected, the TS packet is outputted to a PID filter. The PID filter detects a PCR (Program Time Clock) from the TS packet. During the time while the PCR has not yet arrived at the clock reproduction unit, the frequency of the reference clock used when the previous PCR arrived is maintained. After the PCR has arrived at the clock reproduction unit, the clock reproduction unit sets the value of STC (System Time Clock) so that the value of STC coincides with the new PCR value and controls the frequency of the reference clock CK.
