A medium processing device uses a loop-shaped transport mechanism of small size and with common components. A ring and a plurality of transport belt mechanisms are employed in the loop-shaped transport mechanism. By transporting the medium back and forth using the transport mechanism, record processing is performed using a single recording element. Also, the loop-shaped transport mechanism is modularly structured, and transport required for the apparatus is attained in combination with a feed mechanism module. <IMAGE>
