PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode assembly for a secondary battery capable of quickly easily conducting electrolyte impregnation and to provide the secondary battery having the electrode assembly. SOLUTION: The electrode assembly contains an electrode group 10 formed by interposing a separator between a positive electrode 11 and a negative electrode 12, a case 20 housing the electrode group 10, a cap assembly 30 coupled with the case 20, sealing the case 20, and electrically connected to the electrode group 10, a current collecting plate 50 electrically connected to either one electrode out of the electrodes 11, 12 and arranged in an inside bottom of the case 20, and an electrolyte passage 53 formed in the current collecting plate 50.
