PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a power transmission device by shutting off torque transmission in an advancing and retreating switch mechanism when excess torque is applied from a driving wheel side to the power transmission device. SOLUTION: The power transmission device for the engine is provided with a crank shaft driven by the engine, a continuously variable transmission equipped with a primary shaft and a secondary shaft, and a counter shaft 45 having a driven gear 47b meshed with a driving gear 47a provided on the secondary shaft 34; and the counter shaft 45 is connected to an axle through a gear train 66 comprising a final deceleration small gear 66a and a final deceleration large gear 66b. The driven gear 47b is formed by a disk part 72 attached on the counter shaft 45, and an annular gear part 73 fitted to an outer periphery of the disk part 72, and low friction treatment is applied to an fitting surface 77 of the disk part 72 and the annular gear part 73.
