A chalcopyrite type solar cell (50) has a mica aggregate substrate (52) formed by binding mica particulates with resin. A multilayer body (14) consisting of a first electrode (16), a light absorption layer (18) and a second electrode (20) is formed on the mica aggregate substrate (52) with a smoothing layer (54) and a binder layer (56) interposed between the substrate (52) and the body (14). The smoothing layer (54) is preferably made of SiN or SiO2, and the binder layer (56) is made of TiN or TaN, for example.
