<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make information from an optical sensor suitable for executing printer functions such as color calibration of the printer. <P>SOLUTION: A printing apparatus (10) has a controller (12) for controlling printing functions, a light emitter (14) which is so disposed as to irradiate a medium (11) supplied to the printer apparatus (10) with light, and a color sensor (17).
