<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of stably forming images of good image quality over a prolonged period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an electrophotographic photoreceptor having a conductive substrate, a subbing layer and a photosensitive layer; a charging unit for charging the surface of the photoreceptor; an exposure unit for exposing the surface of the photoreceptor to form an electrostatic latent image; a developing unit for developing the electrostatic latent image with a toner to form a toner image; a transfer unit for primarily transferring the toner image onto an intermediate transfer belt and secondarily transferring the primarily transferred image on the intermediate transfer belt onto a transfer medium; and a cleaning unit for removing the toner remaining on the surface of the photoreceptor. The surface of the intermediate transfer belt has a dynamic hardness of 22×10<SP>9</SP>-36×10<SP>9</SP>N/m<SP>2</SP>; a dynamic hardness of the surface of the photoreceptor is smaller than the dynamic hardness of the surface of the intermediate transfer belt; and the subbing layer has a thickness of ≥7 μm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
