PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a disinfectant having improved properties in any one of points such as (1) bactericidal action at a low concentration, (2) rapid bactericidal action in a short time, (3) bactericidal action having persistence, (4) low toxicity, and (5) stability without lowering the effect even when an organic substance is mixed, and an antibacterial compound of a new type against Gram-positive bacteria and Eumycetes in answer to the problem of appearance of a resistant bacterium, or the like. SOLUTION: A novel photodecomposition product (ANDP-8) of acrinol obtained by separating the main component in the photodecomposition product (ANDP) of acrinol and purifying it has an activity against Gram-positive bacteria of about 10-100 times the activity of acrinol as its original substance, and has also considerably strong antibacterial action against Eumycetes against which no antibacterial power is recognized with acrinol.
