The fastening unit (1) is partially applied, before the installation of a constructional unit (2), in a hollow space of a structural body (3) in a motor vehicle. The fastening unit is designed as a sealing unit with a longitudinal opening (6). The fastening unit is then heated at a corresponding temperature for making a firm connection with the structural body, which is attached to walls (4) that surround the fastening unit.
