<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light absorbable reflection preventing film which is excellent in external light reflection preventing properties, can improve a darkroom contrast, and has enough antistatic properties to suppress the adhesion of dust etc., and interlayer adhesion. <P>SOLUTION: In the light absorbable reflection preventing film, on one side of a transparent substrate, a high refractive index layer of a thin titanium oxide film and a low refractive index layer having a refractive index of 1.3-1.5 are laminated in turn. The high refractive index layer comprises a light absorbable titanium oxide layer in which the atomic number ratio of oxygen to titanium is 1.30-1.55 and transparent titanium oxide layers which are formed on its both surfaces and in which the atomic number ratio of oxygen to titanium is greater than 1.6.
