A throwing aid for a ball, e.g. to exercise a dog, has a telescopic construction with the narrow end locating into a hole in the ball. The thicker end provides a hand grip to enable the user to throw the ball. The ball has a flexible construction with a radial grip hole to fit onto the throwing stick. The extended stick has a length of at least 30 cm.
