A fragrance dispenser has a housing portion ( 1 ), through which an air discharge passage ( 12 ) extends, and a cartridge ( 2 ) carrying a fragrant substance and having vents ( 15, 16 ) for allowing air to pass for entraining fragrance from the cartridge ( 2 ). The cartridge ( 2 ) is removably mounted and rotatably adjustable about an axis of rotation ( 17 ) between a first position for allowing no or little air to pass through and a second position for allowing more air to pass through than in the first position. The cartridge ( 2 ) is removable in a direction transverse to the axis of rotation ( 17 ) and contains a granular fragrance carrier substrate. A domestic appliance including such a dispenser and a cartridge for use therein are also described.
