PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection apparatus of a metal surface for preventing a mackerel skin from being excessively detected as a harmful scratch. SOLUTION: "An integral value computing means" 46b for computing the integral value of a differential value Sd, and "Differential value correcting means" 46a, 46c for correcting a differential value in the direction of decrease as the integral value increases are provided. When the mackerel skin on a surface to be inspected is detected, the output (the integral value of the differential value) of the integral value computing means increases, and hence the differential value is corrected in the direction of decrease, and the signal of a mackerel skin part is suppressed, thus preventing thresholds SL_H, SL_L from being exceeded (avoidance of excessive detection).
