<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gray scale reproduction method obtaining good image quality even at a low resolution, and to provide an image processor, a printer driver and an image forming apparatus employing it. <P>SOLUTION: One of noninterference patterns stored in a pattern storage section 165 is selected according to output conditions inputted from an input section 15 (step S1), matching is performed to determine whether the selected noninterference pattern is included in an inputted multilevel image or not (step S2), a dot pattern corresponding to the noninterference pattern of the inputted multilevel image is altered to an alteration dot pattern stored in the pattern storage section 165 if the noninterference pattern is included in the inputted multilevel image (step S3), a gray scale is altered according to alteration gray scale data stored in the pattern storage section 165 and then a dither matrix for use in dither processing is altered to an alteration dither matrix stored in the pattern storage section 165 (step S4). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
