PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional image display device which can maintain high quality at the the boundaries of the effective display area, even if the display is large in size. SOLUTION: This three-dimensional image display device 10 has liquid crystal parallax barriers 24, provided sandwiching a transparent board 20 on the surface of the image display unit 16 of a transmissive liquid crystal display. A light-shading material 29, such as a black mask, is provided near the boundaries of the effective display areas of the liquid crystal parallax barriers 24 to prevent the light, entering through the sides of the above transparent plate 20, from running out to the outside. This shading material 29 may be provided either inside or outside the parallax barrier 24. With such a configuration, image degradation can be suppressed by eliminating blurred images near the boundaries of the effective display areas, and suppressing the defects that the black areas are not displayed completely black.
