PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart stiffness to various sheets; and to maintain stiffness imparting performance over a long period. SOLUTION: This sheet carrying device 80 has four pairs of delivery rollers R10 and R11 for carrying a document S in the direction orthogonal to the carrying direction of the document S by rotatingly driving the delivery roller R10 by sandwiching a sheet between the mutual rollers. The delivery roller R11 has a roller body part 81, and a stiffness imparting roller 82 arranged in one end part in the shaft direction of the roller body part 81 and projecting in the peripheral direction of the roller body part 81.
