PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability and reliability against thermal stress, in a joint body of a first member in which at least a joint surface is formed of sapphire and a second member in which at least a joint surface is formed of a polycrystalline alumina sintered body. SOLUTION: This joint body 17 is provided with: the first member 6 in which at least a joint surface 6a is formed of sapphire; and the second member 13 in which at least a joint surface 13a is formed of a polycrystalline alumina sintered body. The first member 6 and the second member 13 contact to each other; the average particle diameter in the vicinity of the joint surface 13a of the second member 13 is 2μm to 8μm; and total light-ray transmittance of the polycrystalline alumina is above 80%.
