An electrophotographic photoreceptor that in an electrophotographic apparatus capable of realization of energy saving and high image quality, exhibits excellent potential characteristics and is capable of inhibiting deterioration of image quality attributed to interference. There is provided an electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising a conductive base and, superimposed thereon, at least a photoconductive layer composed mainly of amorphous silicon and a surface layer and further comprising at least one interlayer arranged between the photoconductive layer and the surface layer, characterized in that the surface layer contains a metal fluoride (excluding silicon fluoride) and that the interlayer contains a metal oxide.
