PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a route guide while providing just enough information to a user. SOLUTION: A server 100 as the route guide device performs a route search in response to an instruction of a starting point and a destination from a cellular phone 200. A user DB 136 stores, as information for determining the degree of geographic knowledge of the user, personal information such as address, and route guide history. A guide level setting map 134 stores guide levels, or parameters for regulating the information quantity to be provided during route guide in conformation with the degree of knowledge and the easiness to understand of routes. The server 100 specifies the easiness to understanding of a searched route, and sets a guide level by the guide level setting map 134.
