A golf shaft in the form of a tubular body comprises a cylindrical elementary tube, and a substrate layer formed on the elementary tube throughout its outer peripheral surface. The middle of the outer peripheral surface of the golf shaft is formed with an ornamental layer. The ornamental layer is composed of a pattern layer laminated to the surface of the substrate layer, a liquid crystal layer laminated to the pattern layer throughout its surface, and a light-permeable layer laminated to the liquid crystal layer throughout its surface. The crystal liquid layer is constituted by a liquid crystal film, preferably by a cholesteric liquid crystal film.
